HOSPITALITY
17 MINUTES, VICTORIAN COLLEGE OF THE ARTS, 2015

Kellie, an ambitious chef in a popular fine dining restaurant, becomes a reluctant host when her grandmother pays an unexpected visit from China. Seeing her unsolicited houseguest as a major inconvenience to her life, Kellie at first makes no attempt to make the old lady feel welcome. In the world she inhabits, hostility rather than hospitality reign. However, over the course of just a few days, her Grandmother's presence slowly starts to melt the young woman's cold exterior, causing her to question the superficial relationships in life and her harsh treatment of others, including that of Khadim, an Indian kitchen hand at the restaurant. 'Hospitality' is a humorous and heart-warming exploration of human connection and the importance of empathy and generosity in cultivating meaningful relationships.
